About

Hi and warm welcome.

I'm Jo and I am the Owner and Maker of Iris & Rose Gifts.

I started my small business after taking redundancy from my 16 year long job.

I knew there was a creative side to me, but I was never able to find the passion in other creative fields that I had previously tried, as I have in tumbler making.

2020 was a very testing time for all of us, but it had some positives. This is when I found tumbler making and from the 'get go' I now live and breath tumblers.

I love that the possibilities for my tumblers are endless, from colours, glitters, themes, designs, effect, to name but a few.

Epoxy Process

There is a great deal of time that goes into processing my tumblers. I start off with a blank stainless steel tumbler. I prep the tumbler by lightly sanding it and cleaning off any debris with 90% alcohol.

Once this is dry, I then choose the right colour spray paint for the base coat. This can be the main colour if its a 'plain' tumbler, otherwise I will choose a colour that will match with the glitter that is going to be applied.

I will then add the relevant glitter with glue and wait for that to dry. Once the glue is dry, the tumbler is then put onto the cup turner and I mix the Epoxy Resin. This is then added to the cup in a pouring and smoothing technique. The tumbler will then spin for 4-6 hours to dry.

I will then add another coat of Epoxy Resin and let it spin for another 4-6 hours. Once this coat is dry, I will sand it down so that it is smooth and ready for the designs to be added.

The designs and materials vary from vinyl, waterslides and even temporary tattoos. Once these are in place the tumbler is then ready for another coat or two of Epoxy Resin which will spin for another 4-6 hours each coat.

Then the process is finished, I will leave the tumbler to cure for 24/48 hours and then it is ready to ship to the happy owner.

This is a long process, but it makes for the most beautiful tumblers.

Hyperion

This is a new top coat product that I have been trialling out for my tumblers and it is now an option in my store for you to choose.

Hyperion is a water-based, non epoxy, alternative top coat which still gives the glossy and shiny finish like the epoxy finish does.

Hyperion is a non-polluting product as is an eco-friendly alternative and is food safe.

The process for Hyperion is very similar to the epoxy process, which is detailed below. All designs can be completed as listed in my products section, just select the option you would prefer.
